Military Academies

Are you interested in attending one of the United States Service Academies?

One of my most important and enjoyable responsibilities as the Representative of the 16th District of Texas is the opportunity to nominate our best and brightest young people for the U.S. Military service academies.

As you may know, students must complete a meticulous process before they can be considered for a nomination. In order to facilitate and streamline the process, we have developed a website http://www.usserviceacademy.org for students to access. This site includes pertinent information for students and parents for soliciting a nomination.

Please visit http://www.usserviceacademy.org for all information, forms and requirements necessary to apply.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Acceptance to one of the U. S. Service Academies requires a Congressional or Service Connected Nomination. I have organized my Academy Advisory Committee to assist me in awarding nominations to the U.S. Service Academies. The Committee will carefully evaluate each applicant's qualifications, including the legal domicile, to confirm that the applicant is domiciled within the boundaries of his congressional district. This committee will consider evidence of character, scholarship, leadership, physical aptitude, medical fitness, goals and motivation in determining each applicant's overall qualifications, and then recommend who should receive nominations. Upon approval by your Congressman, the nominations are forwarded to the respective service academies. Each service academy then determines which of the nominees will be offered an Appointment (offer of admission).

I have an active, qualified Admissions Field Force member from each service academy in my Academy Advisory Committee. Applicants are encouraged to contact any of these Admissions Field Force members for information regarding the application process. In addition, all applicants are encouraged to log on to each service academy web site for more detailed information about each academy. Click on "Contacts" to get information on the Service Academies and their local Admissions representatives.

Again you are reminded to seek every Nomination to which you are entitled! Also maximize your opportunities by applying to EVERY Academy. You never know which one is looking for YOU! (Click on "
Contacts")
